Italy stocks lower at close of trade; Italy 40 down 3.54%

Italy stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Financials and Travel&Leisure sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Milan, the Italy 40 fell 3.54%.

The best performers of the session on the Italy 40 were Italgas SpA (MI:IG), which fell 0.52% or 0.025 points to trade at 4.798 at the close. Meanwhile, Luxottica Group SpA (MI:LUX) fell 0.61% or 0.32 points to end at 52.14 and Davide Campari Milano SpA (MI:CPRI) was down 0.80% or 0.06 points to 7.47 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were FinecoBank Banca Fineco SpA (MI:FBK), which fell 6.77% or 0.66 points to trade at 9.06 at the close. Saipem SpA (MI:SPMI) declined 6.39% or 0.2510 points to end at 3.6790 and STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) was down 5.99% or 0.770 points to 12.090.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 322 to 37 and 28 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 3.35% or 1.77 to $51.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 3.49% or 2.15 to hit $59.41 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 3.50 to trade at $1246.10 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1387, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8902.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 96.675.
